Going with the tradition of getting a new design after every alternate generation, the fifth generation Land Rover Discovery will be a completely revamped vehicle. The new generation model was previewed by the Land Rover Discovery Vision concept in 2014, and the spyshot suggests that the exterior would closely resemble the concept. The Discovery will continue having a stepped roof for “stadium seating” for seven people.

The next-gen Land Rover Discovery will be based on the same PLA (Premium Lightweight Architecture) platform as the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. The new platform is expected to bring considerable weight reduction to the Discovery. Besides the familiar 2.0-litre four-cylinder and 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines from the other latest Land Rovers, an electrified powertrain will be on offer as well.
