Yamaha has launched the Yamaha Cygnus Alpha with disc brake in India. Priced at INR 52,556 (ex-showroom Delhi), the Yamaha Cygnus Alpha with disc brake will become available at dealerships nationwide in mid-June. The disc brake variant will be available in two new colours – Radiant Cyan and Marvel Black.

The Yamaha Cygnus Alpha with disc brake is powered by a 5.3 kW (7.10 hp) 113.0 cc air cooled engine.

The Yamaha Cygnus Alpha’s disc brake variant is powered by the same 113.0 cc air cooled single-cylinder engine from the drum brake variant which will continue being sold alongside as the more economical offering of the two. This engine produces 5.3 kW (7.1 PS) at 7,500 rpm and 8.1 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. It’s paired to a continuously variable transmission and delivers a fuel economy of 66 km/l. The disc brake variant also offers 21 litres of storage space under the seat.

Speaking about the disc brake variant’s launch, Mr. Roy Kurian, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, “Yamaha is looking at reaching a 10% market share by the end of this year and the introduction of this latest variant of the Cygnus Alpha scooter is expected to further propel its growth in the segment. This latest offering with disc brake is aimed at families who want that additional safety feature.”
