Below is a spec-sheet comparison of the VW Ameo petrol with its rivals: The Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Figo Aspire, Tata Zest and Hyundai Xcent. As VW India has only launched and announced tech specs of the petrol variant, this comparison sheet too gives details of only the petrol variants of these cars.
All cars are powered by 1.2-liter engines: The Tata Zest gets a first-in-class turbocharged unit, whereas the Ameo uses a downsized three-cylinder MPI engine. The Figo Aspire AT is powered by a 1.5-liter engine though.
When it comes to power-weight ratio though, the Honda Amaze sports the highest 91.66 PS/tonne, whereas the Ameo is the lowest in segment at 70.15 PS/tonne. The Ameo's fuel efficiency is pegged at 17.83 km/l, inching past the Amaze's by 0.03 km/l. The Maruti Swift Dzire continues to hold on to the title of the most fuel efficient compact sedan though.
