Volvo V90 Cross Country begins testing
Sagar Parikh, I'm the international news editor at IndianAutosBlog.com. I love everything that has a steering wheel!
Likely to be launched in North America.
Volvo has started testing the rugged, adventure variant of the Volvo V90 – the Volvo V90 Cross Country, spy shots posted by Paultan.org have revealed. The V90 Cross Country will serve as a successor to the Volvo V70-based Volvo XC70. The V90 Cross Country will rival the Audi A6 Allroad and likely go on sale in Europe and North America in 2017.
As seen with latest Volvo models, the development mule of the Volvo V90 Cross Country is heavily camouflaged and doesn’t leave much bare. However, the prototype does suggest an increased ride height, rugged tyres and distinctive bumpers. Because of the fake body cladding fitted on the prototype, more changes are not visible.
Being a derivative of the V90, the Volvo V90 Cross Country will be based on the Volvo SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform. It should be offered with the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged/supercharged/turbocharged and superhcharged/twin-turbo petrol and diesel engines from the V90 estate. Additionally, the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid option may also be offered. The 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system should be standard across the range.
