Expected to launch in H2 2016.
According to GaadiWaadi, the production of the Toyota Innova Crysta petrol variant will start on July 18. It is expected to be launched in H2 2016.
The introduction of a petrol variant is a solution to the ban on diesel-powered vehicles displacing over 2000cc that was imposed in Delhi NCR by the Supreme Court. The ban has, reportedly, taken away 7 percent of the total sales of the Toyota Innova and Fortuner.
The engine reported to power the petrol variant of the Innova Crysta is the 2.7L four cylinder VVT-i unit, which develops 164 PS at 5,200 rpm and 25 kg-m of torque at 4,000 rpm. The report states that it will be paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, while an automatic option could be introduced at a later time.

As for the two diesel variants currently sold, the good response has helped the Innova clinch back the title of ‘best selling MPV’ from the Maruti Ertiga, selling 7,259 units of the Innova Crysta in its second month after launch.
