Interior of the VW Tiguan XL spied in China
Sagar Parikh, I'm the international news editor at IndianAutosBlog.com. I love everything that has a steering wheel!
Will enter production at the end of 2016.
The VW Tiguan XL is scheduled to be launched in 2017 and Volkswagen has been testing it on the public roads this year. In the latest, a test mule spied in China reveals the three-row version’s interior.
The spy shot shows that the Tiguan XL features the same steering, instrument panel, infotainment system and HVAC vents from the five-seat VW Tiguan.
The VW Tiguan XL will be targeted at the North American and the South American markets. A right-hand drive version of the Tiguan XL is possible and its Australian launch is under consideration. In Europe, there will be a similar offering from Skoda – the Skoda Kodiaq, which will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October. Both MQB platform-based three-row crossovers should have a lot in common mechanically.
The VW Tiguan XL should be offered with 2.0-litre TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines. A plug-in hybrid variant may also be introduced at a later date. Production of the standard variant will kick-off at the end of 2016 in Puebla, Mexico. Around 500 units will be built per day, but there are no plans to ship the model to the EU and China from this facility, VW has confirmed.
