Autos Segredos reports that Fiat Brazil is working on an SUV derivative of the Fiat Toro. It was under development even before the Toro pickup was made official, according to the report.
The Toro SUV could serve as the next generation Fiat Freemont, thus replacing the current model - a rebadged version of the Dodge Journey. A couple of renderings from Autos segredos gives a better look at the upcoming Toro SUV, which is designed along the lines of the Toro pickup.
The interior is likely to be identical to the Toro pickup, save for exclusive trim options and more creature comforts. The report states that Fiat will offer a 7-seater option in the Toro SUV. As for equipment, expecte features such as FCA’s 5-inch UConnect infotainment system and a 7-inch MID in the center of the instrument cluster, reverse parking sensors and camera, seven airbags and a panoramic glass roof.

Engine lineup could be sourced from the Toro pickup, which includes a 1.8 16v E-Torq Flex petrol engine and 2.0 16v Multijet turbo diesel. The former produces 138 hp and is paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the latter delivers 170 hp through a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox. A 4×4 drivetrain option with low gear setting is only available in the turbodiesel variant.
