Expected to debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

The sixth generation Mercedes S-Class (W222) was introduced in 2013 and will be due for a mid-life facelift next year. As development for the mid-life update continues in Europe, the facelifted S-Class has been spied showing off the next-gen Multibeam LED headlights, courtesy walkoART.

The facelifted 2017 Mercedes S-Class is reported to debut the all-new Multibeam LED headlights.

Mercedes introduced the Multibeam LED headlights consisting of 24 individually controlled LEDs on the 2015 Mercedes CLS-Class (facelift) in early-2014. Towards the end of the same year, the company introduced an updated version which incorporates 84 individually controlled LEDs. Sometime next year though, the facelifted S-Class will likely debut a further updated version of the Multibeam LED headlights.

Along with the tweaked headlights, the facelifted S-Class features updated taillights reminiscent of the new generation E-Class’s “stardust effect” taillights.’ Also visually changed on the outside, will be the bumpers and grilles. Interior changes may deal with the steering wheel (a new 3-spoke one), and trim and upholstery choices.

With the facelift, the Mercedes S-Class will reportedly see introduction of a new OM 656 six-cylinder diesel engine producing 340 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The remaining engines, or more likely a few of them, could go through some revisions for improved fuel economy and lesser CO2 emissions. The facelifted 2017 Mercedes S-Class is expected to debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March, and thus, could be launched in India in H2 2017.
