Powered by a 1.8L TSI engine.
Ahead of its launch which is confirmed to take place this year, the 3-door VW Polo GTI was spied yet again in Maharashtra alongside a 2016 Skoda Superb and a regular VW Polo with temporary numberplate.
The Polo GTI had its debut at the Auto Expo this year where VW India confirmed its launch. The performance variant of the Polo will arrive through the CBU route, and will initially launch in a 3-door bodystyle even though VW sells a 5-door bodystyle in Europe.
The hot-hatch's highlight will be the 1.8-liter four-cylinder TSI engine capable of 189 hp and 250 Nm of torque. It will be channelled through a 7-speed DSG transmission, capable of accelerating the Polo GTI from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and onwards to a top-speed of 236 km/h.
To distinguish itself from the regular Polo, the GTI will feature LED daytime running lights, a more aerodynamic front bumper, a honeycomb grille with a red louvre, larger 17-inch alloy wheels with fatter 215/40 tyres, twin exhausts and a sunroof.
