Gets a new 6-speed MT for the petrol variants.
The Honda BR-V has gone on sale in the Indian market, with prices starting at INR 8.75 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. The BR-V is the carmaker’s answer to the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Maruti S-Cross.
It is based on the same platform as the Honda Brio, though Honda claims the structural rigidity of the BR-V has been strengthened in comparison to the Mobilio. Also, Honda has introduced its newly-developed 6-speed manual gearbox on the BR-V petrol. A CVT with paddle shifters is also available with the petrol engine, which is the tried-and-tested 1.5-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder motor capable of 119 PS and 145 Nm of torque.
The BR-V is also offered with a 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine capable of 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. The diesel variant claims 21.9 km/l whereas the petrol variants return 15.4 km/l (MT) and 16 km/l (CVT).
All variants of the Honda BR-V are equipped with dual front airbags and projector headlights. ABS and EBD are standard on all diesel variants, whereas they are offered from the S variant on the petrol BR-V.
