Ford showcased the seventh generation Ford Taurus at Auto China 2016 (2016 Beijing Motor Show) held last month. Introduced at Auto Shanghai 2015, the seventh generation model went on sale in China in January this year. With an evolutionary redesign, the Ford Taurus now looks close to the second-gen Ford Fusion/fourth-gen Ford Mondeo.
The seventh generation Ford Taurus is manufactured at the Changan Ford Hangzhou plant. Based on the 'ABB' platform, the 2016 Ford Taurus measures 4,996 mm in length, 1,878 mm in width and 1,503 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,949 mm. It's available in five grades, with prices ranging from 2,48,800 to 3,48,800 yuan (INR 25,44,915.14 to 35,67,791).
The 2016 Ford Taurus can be had with a 2.0-litre EcoBoost GTDi turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine developing 180 kW (241.29 hp) at 5,500 rpm and 350 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 4,000 rpm, or a 2.7-litre EcoBoost GTDi turbocharged V6 petrol engine developing 242 kW (324.40 hp) at 5,500 rpm and 475 Nm of torque from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm.
Both engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The fuel consumption rating of the 2.0-litre can be as low as 8.3L/100 km (12.05 km/l), while the bigger and more powerful, 2.7-litre engine has a standard fuel consumption rating of 9.2L/100 km (10.87 km/l) irrespective of the trim level.
