Is based on an all-new platform.

As per a new report from Autocar Professional, the BMW G310R will only be launched in India during the second half of current fiscal year. The report adds that the production spec TVS Akula 310 will come soon after.

The BMW G310R will challenge the KTM 390 Duke and Mahindra Mojo.

TVS and BMW joined hands in the year 2013 for producing entry-level motorcycles up to 500cc where the former would manufacture and export the BMW-developed products.

The first two bikes of the collaboration were displayed at 2016 Auto Expo in February. While the G310R is based on a naked streetfighter concept, the Akula 310 will be the first full-faired machine to come from TVS.

The two motorcycles will come powered by the same 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor mated to a six-speed gearbox. The engine claims to generate a peak power output of 34 bhp with a 28 Nm of torque. Understandably the engine would be fine tuned to meet different purposes on the two distinct class of bikes.
