Will be available with two engine options in Malaysia.
Ahead of its approaching launch in Malaysia, variants and variant-wise features of the 2016 Honda Civic were posted on a Facebook page. For the Malaysian market, the 2016 Civic will come in three variants – Civic 1.8, Civic 1.5 Turbo and Civic 1.5 Turbo Premium.
The base 1.8-liter variant will be fitted with six airbags, reverse camera, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, rear AC, LED daytime running lights, remote start, electric parking brake, auto-hold and tilt sensor.
Next up, the Civic 1.5 Turbo will add features like leather seats, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, 17-inch alloy wheels and paddle shifters. The 1.5 Turbo Premium gets dual-zone AC, LED headlights and LED foglights and auto headlight leveling.
As the variant names suggest, the 1.5 Turbo and 1.5 Turbo Premium will be powered by the 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo engine capable of 173 PS at 5,500 rpm and 220 Nm of torque from 1,700 to 5,500 rpm. It will be paired to a CVT. The 1.8-liter i-VTEC too will get a CVT option for Malaysia. Currently, dealers are accepting bookings for the new Civic in Malaysia.
According to a recent report, the 2016 Honda Civic is under consideration for an Indian launch, as Honda Cars India feels there is a white space gap in the market between the Honda City and the soon-to-launch Honda Accord Hybrid.
