Demand for diesel-powered City came down by 30 percent in Q1 2016.
Business Standard reports that demand for the diesel-powered Honda City has taken a hit due to increasing consumer preference for petrol vehicles.
In the first quarter, only 28 percent of the total demand was for the Honda City diesel variant, nearly 30 percent lower than October-December period of 2015. In February alone, the City’s volumes fell below 5,000 units for the first time in many months, allowing the Maruti Ciaz to clinch the top spot.
However, the City managed to return to the top position in March 2016. Honda will adjust the production mix according to the demand of the variant, which could take a minimum of three-four months.

The petrol-powered Honda City packs a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that produces 119 PS and 145 Nm of torque. It is offered with a five-speed manual transmission that enables the vehicle to deliver a mileage of 17.8 km/l. Also available is a CVT version that claims a higher fuel economy of 18 km/l.
