Additional spy photographs of the flagship VW Phideon have come up on Chinese web portals.
The Phideon is expected to be listed on the Chinese market in September and will be positioned above the Passat.

The VW Phideon introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show has been spotted testing completely undisguised on public roads in China ahead of its market launch in Q3 2016. The images come courtesy of XGO.COM.CN.
The five-metre long luxury saloon is the production version of the VW C Coupe GTE concept that was introduced at Auto Shanghai 2015, and will be positioned above the VW Passat and VW Magotan in China. Note that the Phideon is not announced as a replacement for the VW Phaeton.
The VW Phideon is 5.05 metres long, 1.87 metres wide, 1.48 metres tall, and has a wheelbase of more than 3.0 metres. It's the first Volkswagen model to be based on the Modular Longitudinal Matrix (MLB) platform. The model will be available with a 3.0-litre TSI turbocharged V6 petrol engine good for 220 kW (300 PS/295 hp) and 440 Nm (347 lb.-ft.) of torque as well as a smaller, 2.0-litre TSI four-cylinder engine.
The 3.0-litre variant will feature 4MOTION four-wheel drive as standard, while the 2.0-litre variant will have a front-wheel drive drivetrain configuration. A plug-in hybrid is also planned for a launch at a later stage.
Noteworthy features of VW Phideon include dual LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights, soft-close doors, head-up display, 360-degree area view camera and infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink for smartphone integration.

Safety and assistance systems include camera-based night vision system, adaptive cruise control, camera-based lane-departure warning system, lane-changing assistant and adaptive high beam assist.
