Mercedes is showcasing the Euro-spec 2016 Mercedes E Class (W213) at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show today. It made its world premiere at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show.
Compared to the outgoing model, the new E Class is 43 mm longer with a length of 4,880 mm and has a 65 mm longer wheelbase of 2,874 mm. The all-new model has a drag coefficient value of 0.23 cd, which is the lowest in its class. Exterior design appears to mix styling cues from the Mercedes S Class and C Class, thus making it instantly recognizable.
Some of the features available include MULTIBEAM LED headlamps with 84 individually controlled LEDs each, an optional digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch high-resolution display, all-new COMAND Online infotainment system with touch-sensitive Touch Control Buttons on the steering wheel and another 12.3-inch high-resolution display, Qi wireless charging and Burmester 3D surround sound system with 23 speakers.
Under the hood, the Mercedes E-Class will be available with a choices between two petrol and two diesel engines, as well as a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Initially, only two models will be available for sale – E 200 and E 220 d. V6-powered models such as the E 350 d and E 400 4MATIC will follow later. A 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission is standard in all models.
