The 2016 Honda Africa Twin is being showcased at the 37th Bangkok International Motor Show (2016 BIMS). The model is retailed in Thailand at THB 550,000 (INR 10.41 lakhs) for the Honda CRF1000AG (manual variant) and at THB 580,000 (INR 10.98 lakhs) for the Honda CRF1000DG (DCT - automatic version) including VAT.
The motorcycle is available in three colours - CRF Rally Colour (Red and Blue), Mat Ballistic Black Metallic (Black) and Digital Silver Metallic (Grey and Black).
The 2016 Honda Africa Twin features a 998 cc twin-cylinder engine with a Unicam, four valves per head and a 270-degree crankshaft, that is offered with the choice of a six-speed gearbox and a new Dual Clutch automatic transmission which offers manual shifting by buttons on the left switchgear console. The motor produces 94 hp (70 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 98 Nm (72.3 lb-ft) of torque at 6,000 rpm.
The adventure motorcycle is offered with ABS and traction control which are switchable and the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) in manual as well as automatic versions.
HMSI confirmed at the Auto Expo that it would assemble and introduce the Honda Africa Twin in India.
