The model year update last year brought a new turbocharged engine and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility for the IntelliLink infotainment system. The 2017 model year update will bring a new exterior among other significant changes.

The facelifted Buick Encore looks identical to its cousin, the Opel Mokka X that was unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show last week. Up front, changes include resculpted hood, new grille design, sharp headlamps with ‘double-wing’ LED daytime running lights, and new design for the bumper, fog lamp housing and skid plate.

The profile doesn’t appear to have any changes, whereas at the rear, the bumper has been tweaked and there will be a new skid plate. The tail lamps seem to have not changed; the Opel Mokka X got new LED tail lamps.

With the facelift, the Buick Encore should continue with the 1.4-liter EcoTec turbocharged engine developing 138 hp and 148 lb.-ft. (201 Nm) of torque and the 1.4-liter SIDI turbocharged gasoline engine producing 153 hp and 177 lb.-ft. (240 Nm) of torque. The latter, which is currently available only in the Sport Touring trim, could seep into other variants.

Only a 6-speed automatic transmission is available as of now, and there's no word on the introduction of a 6-speed manual transmission.
