India-bound 2016 Toyota Fortuner launched in South Africa

Toyota has launched the India-bound second generation 2016 Toyota Fortuner in South Africa. The second generation Toyota Fortuner will be available in three grades: Entry grade, Standard grade and High grade.

The 2016 Toyota Fortuner is available in 3 grades in South Africa – Entry grade, Standard grade and High grade.

The Entry grade will be available with 2.4 GD and 2.7 Dual VVT-i engines, The 2.4-litre GD diesel engine develops 110 kW (148 hp) and 400 Nm of torque and can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.7 Dual VVT-i petrol engine delivers 122 kW (164 hp) and 245 Nm of torque, and sends power to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Noteworthy features of the Entry grade include front fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels and full alloy spare wheel, roof rails, rear spoiler, illuminated entry and cruise control.

The Standard grade is available only with the 2.8-litre GD diesel engine that delivers 130 kW (174 hp) and 420 Nm of torque when had with a 6-speed manual, and 450 Nm of torque in combination with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive system can be had with both transmissions.

The Standard grade’s highlights include LED headlamps with follow-me-home function, auto air-conditioner, leather upholstery, 7-inch display for the multimedia system and reversing camera, and front, knee, curtain and side airbags.

The High grade sports the top-end 4.0-litre V6 petrol engine. The same engine has been tuned to produce 130 kW (174 hp) that delivers 175 kW (235 hp) and 376 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. This grade adds power back door (power liftgate) and 7-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation.
