European exports of Maruti Baleno to start this month - Report

Exports to Japan commenced earlier this month.

Following the commencement of exports to the Japanese market, Maruti Suzuki will extend the services to several European markets from this month, reports Car and Bike. The Baleno will be exported to over 100 markets worldwide during its lifecycle.

Initially, Maruti is targeting markets such as France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark and Spain. In Italy, Suzuki launched a limited edition Baleno Web S (online pre-order only) which is priced from 15,900 Euros (INR 11.55 lakhs).

The Euro-spec Suzuki Baleno's engine lineup comprises of an India-made 1.0-liter Boosterjet engine which develops 110 hp and 170 Nm, along with a 1.2-liter Dualjet engine with SHVS technology. Power is transferred via a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

Initially, Maruti is targeting markets such as France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark and Spain.

The Baleno resumes Maruti's ambitious export operations to Europe, where rival brands such as Hyundai and Nissan have a better market share. With India being the production hub for the Baleno as well as home to the compact Maruti Vitara Brezza, Suzuki believes that MSIL can play a significant role in the growth of the Japanese manufacturer in markets across the globe.
