Next-gen Dacia Duster (Renault Duster) to be based on CMF platform – Report

Romanian publication, Auto Expert, reports that the next generation Dacia Duster (Renault Duster) will be based on the CMF platform, thus dropping the B0 platform that underpins the Dacia Sandero and Logan.

The new Duster is expected to be longer by 18 cm, thus reaching 4.50 meters of overall length.

It’s likely to be based on the CMF-B platform, which will underpin the next generation Nissan Juke. Given that it is a new platform, it would require a fresh round of investment to localize the platform in India, which is one of the biggest markets for the Renault Duster.

In an interview, Renault-Nissan Alliance Managing Director, Alliance A-Segment development, Gerard Detourbet, has stated that Renault will localize the platform if a car based on it is manufactured in India.

Engine lineup will, reportedly, continue to include the 1.5 dCi diesel and 1.2 TCe petrol engines from the current Duster.

The exterior styling is expected to be more premium and practical. According to a recent report, the next-gen Duster will be a three-row crossover that can accomodate seven passengers. The new Duster is expected to be longer by 18 cm, thus reaching 4.50 meters of overall length.

Engine lineup will, reportedly, continue offering the 1.5 dCi diesel and 1.2 TCe petrol engines. An optional 6-speed Easy-R AMT could be retained for the diesel variant, while an AWD system is standard in the top-end grade.

The immediate future sees Renault India launching the Duster facelift towards the end of next month.
