Will rival the Maruti Dzire Tour.

Hyundai is prepping a new variant of the Hyundai Xcent sub-4m sedan exclusively for the cab operator segment, thus offering a rival to the Maruti Dzire Tour, reports Autocar India.

Petrol and diesel variants will be on offer, according to the report.

To make it more affordable for taxi operators, Hyundai will strip features such as central locking, front power windows, full wheel caps, blackened pillars and a cooled glovebox from the current base variant. The seat upholstery could also get a different cloth/Rexine material.

Engine options could include the 1.2-liter Kappa petrol and 1.1-liter U2 diesel engines, both of which are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. While the diesel variant is the more-popular option among taxi operators, a petrol option is likely to lure operators that use CNG-petrol taxis in their fleet. It'll also be inline with the new ruling mandating CNG-operated cabs in New Delhi.

Prices could be nearly similar to the base model, which starts from INR 5.18 Lakh for the petrol, and INR 6.01 Lakh for the diesel (ex-showroom, Delhi). The report also states that the model will be introduced once the stock of Xcent base variants are sold.
