Previewed by the Volvo Concept Coupe.
At the unveil of the Volvo S90 sedan, Thomas Ingenlath, Volvo's senior vice president of design, hinted to Auto Express that a 2-door coupe could also join the "90 cluster" lineup, which currently includes the Volvo XC90, S90 and the soon-to-be-unveiled Volvo V90 estate.
If it does come into fruition, Volvo will finally have a spiritual successor to the legendary Volvo P1800 2+2 GT car. The company has already previewed the design of such a bodystyle with the Volvo Concept Coupe in 2013, which debuted the company's next generation design language.
Like its 4-door brother, it will be based on the SPA platform and source the 2.0 Drive-E petrol and diesel engine lineup, with power outputs varying between 190 hp for the entry-level D4 diesel variant and 407 hp in the T8 Twin Engine petrol hybrid. A Polestar variant is also likely to be considered for sportier performance and track handling.
