Could be priced below BRL 30,000.
Renault Brazil has announced that the Renault Kwid will enter local production from September 2016, and the company is aiming to price it under BRL 30,000 (INR 5.02 lakhs). The Kwid is presently sold only in India.
Patent images of the South American-spec Renault Kwid reveal minimal changes to the model sold in India. It gets body coloured door handles, while the ground clearance appears a little lower. To pass the Latin NCAP tests, the Brazilian-spec Renault Kwid’s chassis could be slightly modified for better strength and rigidity.
The Kwid for Brazil is expected with the 0.8L engine, but with the added capability of running on ethanol. The Indian-spec model outputs 54 PS and 72 Nm of torque, with an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 25.17 km/l. A bigger 1.0L could also be introduced, which could be paired to an AMT.
