Next-gen model won't switch to the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform.
The next-gen VW Bora will debut in April 2016, suggests a report from auto.ifeng.com. The Chinese publication has published spy shots of the all-new model, showing its redesigned exterior. The spy shots seen here are of probably the top-end trim featuring LED headlights, fog lamps, chrome accents, and premium alloy wheels.
Like the current VW Bora which went on sale in 2010, the 2016 Bora will also be made by the FAW-Volkswagen alliance in China. The next-gen Bora will continue being underpinned by the Volkswagen Group's PQ35 platform which is slowly being phased-out for global models with the MQB platform. The revised is reportedly 4,562 mm long, 1,793 mm wide and 1,468 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,614 mm.
According to the report, the 2016 model will be available with a 110 PS (108 hp) 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine and a 131 PS (129 hp) 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. Transmission choices will include 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DSG.
Prices for the 2016 VW Bora in China should start from ¥1,10,000 (INR 11.25 lakhs) for the base trim level and go up to ¥1,50,000 (INR 15.35 lakhs) for the top-end trim level.
