Interior of the Mini Countryman 2017 snapped in China – Spied
Sagar Parikh, I'm the international news editor at IndianAutosBlog.com. I love everything that has a steering wheel!
Will be based on the front-wheel drive UKL platform.
The second generation 2017 Mini Countryman is said to arrive in late 2016, 6.5 years after the first generation was launched. Development is already underway, as indicated by these test mule spyshots from China, courtesy of auto.sohu.com.
The Mini Countryman 2017 (codename: F60) is reported to be more rugged and SUV-ish than now. It will be based on the front-wheel drive UKL platform that also underpins the second generation Mini products. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive choices are expected to be offered. Many technicalities are expected to be shared with the second gen BMW X1.
Noteworthy features of the all-new Mini Countryman will include LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, LED fog lamps, Mini Head-Up Display, Mini Connected infotainment system, LED interior and ambient lighting and collision and pedestrian warning with initial brake function. The steering wheel, gear stalk, switchgear and HVAC knobs are similar to the ones seen in the latest Mini models. One of the changes is the vertical central air vents that is placed a little forward.
The Mini Countryman 2017 would be available with the same MINI TwinPower Turbo three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines offered in the new Mini family. A plug-in hybrid powertrain should also be offered. Transmission choices may include 6-speed manual and 8-speed Steptronic. Markets outside Europe should receive the 2017 Mini Countryman in H1 2017. The John Cooper Works variant should be offered in the next generation about a year from its launch.
