India-bound Mercedes GLC – Motorshow Focus

The GLC is produced in both LHD and RHD versions.
The Mercedes GLC has been showcased at the 2015 Thailand Motor Expo. The successor to the Mercedes GLK will be making its Indian debut in the middle of next year.
The GLC is based on the C Class’ rear-wheel drive MRA architecture. Dimension wise, the crossover is 183.3 inches, 74.4 inches and 64.5 inches in length, width and height respectively; it has a wheelbase of 113.1 inches giving the car more space than its predecessor. The luggage capacity has also increased by 50 litres to a total of 1,600 litres.
The interior features a free-standing COMAND infotainment system on the dashboard that can be given inputs from the touchpad. The centre console comprises of three AC vents and neatly stacked buttons for the air conditioning and audio system. The multi-function steering wheel is a three-spoke unit while the seats are upholstered in Artico leather.
The GLC comes with engine options of two diesel, one petrol and a PHEV variant. The GLC 220 d is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel putting out 170 hp / 400 Nm of torque, the GLC 250 d produces 204 hp / 500 Nm of torque with the same engine. The petrol GLC 250 also draws power from a 2.0-litre four cylinder with an output of 211 hp / 350 Nm.
The GLC 350 e plug-in hybrid is propelled by the 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engine assisted by an electric motor delivering a combined figure of 327 hp and 560 Nm, with a pure electric range of 34 kilometres. All engines are mated to the 9G-Tronic automatic transmission with the exception of the hybrid that is married to the 7G-Tronic auto gearbox. Mercedes GLC will send power to all four corners through the 4Matic AWD system.
