Power output expected to range between 170-210 hp.
Just a few weeks have gone by since Fiat unveiled the 124 Spider. Now, spy photographers have caught the more powerful Abarth variant of the 124 Spider on test. Spyshots can be viewed at the source link below.
The test mule is wearing heavy camouflage and does not reveal much, but the exterior will probably get a revised front bumper with larger air intakes, bigger wheels and beefier side sills. The bonnet might also have a matte black finish. What really distinguishes and makes clear the fact that this is the go-faster variant are the quad tailpipes at the rear.
Under the hood likely rests Fiat’s 1.4-liter MultiAir II turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. This engine is reported to come in two tunes of 170 hp for the regular Abarth and 220 hp for the top-end Esseesse version. For the US market, the 220 hp version will come as standard, say reports.

Other upgrades that the Abarth 124 should offer as standard are a limited-slip differential, bigger brakes and a revised suspension. They should ensure sportier handling and a fun-to-drive character. Though the Abarth model has been confirmed by Fiat, there is no word on when the model will be in showrooms.
