NDTV Auto reports that MV Agusta refrained from launching the MV Agusta Brutale 800 in India as the company has planned to introduce the model’s 2016 version in the country in July 2016. The publication reports that a source close to the management at Kinetic Motoroyale revealed the aforementioned information.
The 2016 Brutale 800 will be the entry-level model in the brand’s portfolio. It will be sourced from Italy through CKD kits and assembled at Kinetic’s facility near Pune. The report claims that the motorcycle would be priced in the range of INR 13-14 lakhs (ex-showroom, Pune).
Unveiled at the 2015 EICMA in Milan, the 2016 version of the Brutale 800 is characterised by some subtle changes in styling including a new LED headlamp, fuel tank, tail section and exhaust. The frame has been revised, as a result of which the wheelbase is 20 mm longer and the trail has increased from 95 mm to 103.5 mm. The Brutale 800 is shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres, a first for an OEM application.
It is powered by a Euro4 compliant 798 cc three-cylinder engine with DOHC, 12 valves and a counter-rotating crankshaft, that produces 116 bhp at 11,500 rpm and 83 Nm at 7,600 rpm, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The earlier version produced 125 bhp and 80 Nm. The model retains the eight-level traction control system, and gains a quickshifter that functions on upshifts as well as downshifts.
