World debut at NAIAS 2016.

As each day passes by, the camouflage on the 2016 Mercedes E Class prototypes seem to be dropping down. A new video from WalkoART reveals a test model that is barely disguised, leaving nothing to the imagination.

The new E Class, as described by chief designer Gorden Wagener, features an “all-new design that is much more beautiful and modern, and much cleaner than even the C-Class and S-Class”. The wheelbase is reported to be 55 mm longer than the outgoing model, while measuring similar in overall length to the outgoing model.

The interior combines design cues borrowed from the Mercedes S Class and C Class, and is an evolutionary upgrade over the aging, button-infested design of the outgoing model. It gets optional 12.1 inch displays for the driver and the COMAND infotainment system, four round air vents in the center, flowing dashboard design, and ambient lighting.

Mercedes is still mum on the technical details. Reports firmly believe that it will be offered with a lineup of 2.0-liter four cylinder petrol and diesel engines, 3.0-liter in-line six cylinder petrol and diesel units and a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 option in the top-end AMG variant.
