To be launched next year.
The design of the second generation Chevrolet Niva has been revealed by its leaked patent images from the Russian Federal Institute of Industrial Property. The all-new model was previewed by the Niva concept at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show, and is to be manufactured by GM-AvtoVAZ.
The production version has carried over the basic theme of the concept's exterior while leaving out the complex cues. The black matte paint, the additional headlights, the roof rack with the extra spare wheel (on top) and the off-road tyres have not passed on from the study.
It is unclear as to what will power the 2016 Chevrolet Niva, but Russian publications expect a 1.6-litre or a 1.8-litre petrol engine under its hood that could produce around 120 PS (88 kW). The Niva concept was presented with a 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that is capable of producing 122 PS (90 KW), and it was mated to a five-speed manual transmission, a locking differential and an All-Wheel Drive system.
