To ride on the Audi A4's MLB platform.
Autobild has posted a couple of renderings of the next generation 2016 Audi A5 Sportback, offering an insight into its final design. It is expected to debut in 2016, following the unveil of the Audi A5 Coupe.
The A5 Sportback will be slightly bigger than the outgoing model, and more aggressive with its exterior styling. Its design will draw influence from the 2016 Audi A4, featuring sleeker headlamps with Matrix LED tech, Singleframe Audi grille, LED taillamps, and sharper lines.
As seen in spyshots, the interior will be nearly identical to that of the Audi A4. It gets a cleaner interior design with a new MMI freestanding display, Virtual Cockpit Display, re-designed three spoke steering wheel and a stubby gear selector.

The next gen A5 will ride on the MLB platform, and will source some of its engines from the A4’s engine lineup, which includes a choice of four-cylinder petrol, four-cylinder diesel and a six-cylinder diesel. Power outputs range between 150 hp to 272 hp, while gearbox options are just as diverse with a 6-speed manual, 8-speed tiptronic and 7-speed S-Tronic automatic units.
