The Subaru Impreza 5-Door Concept has been officially unveiled in Japan. Premiering at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the brand's latest concept model is a styling exercise previewing the fifth generation Subaru Impreza. The current, fourth generation model arrived in 2011 and is due for a complete redesign later this decade.

The 5-seat concept hatchback is 4,400 mm long, 1,880 mm wide and 1,440 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. Up front, character is given by a new hexagonal upper grille that is flanked by dramatic hawk-eye headlights, a simplistic lower grille and a sporty bumper. The side profile looks sleek and sculpted, thanks to the coupe-styled window profile and bulges on door panels. The sleek mirrors wouldn't make it too production of course, nor would the blue-accented 19-inch wheels probably either.

The rear-end features C-shaped tail lamps that extend to the quarter panels on the outside and to the V-shaped tailgate on the inside and a roof spoiler.

The next-gen Subaru Impreza evolving from this concept will be the first of the brand's next-gen strategic vehicles that are part of the "Prominence 2020" plan which was announced in May 2014. The launch timeline for the Opel Astra-rivaling compact hatchback hasn't been announced just yet.
