Sales hit an all-time low in August 2015.
Renault India will soon launch the Lodgy in the fleet segment, the company's CEO and managing director, Mr. Sumit Sawhney told Indian Autos Blog during a media roundtable recently.
Mr. Sawhney said -
Currently Lodgy is number 3 in the segment, and the MPV is a rationale buy. For the fleet segment, we need a 7 seater, for the customer to get excise duty refund. So we're going to launch the Lodgy 7 seater and should double our volume from the current 700 units to 1,400 units a month. We've started initial billing.
Sales of the Lodgy have witnessed a downward spiral since its launch in April this year. From a peak of 2,032 units, the Lodgy's sales fell to 271 units in August, and recorded only 522 units the month before that. The Innova meanwhile continued to rule the segment by selling 5,175 units in August and 5,449 units in July.
The Lodgy is available with a 1.5-liter dCi diesel engine in power states of 85 PS and 110 PS. The 85 PS variant, which is likely to be offered for the fleet market, returns an efficiency of 21.04 km/l whereas the more powerful 110 PS does 19.98 km/l.
