Debuting at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
A rendering has been released by LP Design, giving a good idea of what the Egea-based C-segment hatchback will look like. This would serve as a long-time successor to the Fiat Tipo, which was sold between 1988-1995.
The new rendering borrows design cues from the Fiat Egea sedan (that will use the 'Tipo' branding outside Turkey), as seen in the long mesh grille, sleek headlamps, contoured hood, and a strong shoulder line.
Based on the Fiat Tipo sedan, the hatchback is likely to borrow its diesel engine, which includes two Multijet turbodiesel engines and two petrol engines. Power output ranges from 95 PS to 120 PS, and is sent through a manual or automatic gearbox to the front wheels.
Slotting above the Punto, the Tipo would take on renowned brands like the Ford Focus, VW Golf and the Toyota Corolla. Fiat confirmed that the Tipo hatchback will be sold in the UK from 2016, denoting that it would be the first RHD product from the platform.
While the Fiat Tipo sedan will be manufactured chiefly by TOFAS in Turkey, a report suggests that it could also be produced in Brazil and India.
