Will be based on the MQB platform.
Autobild has posted a rendering of the next generation Audi Q3 crossover, which appears to draw influence from the Audi e-tron quattro concept.
It will be based on the MQB platform, and could share components with the 2016 VW Tiguan, which made its debut at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt. The report states that its overall length could grow by 4.39 to 4.45 meters, and 2.60 to 2.65 meters for the wheelbase, to keep it well clear of the entry-level Q2 that launches next year. Unlike the Tiguan, Audi is not planning to offer an extended version of the Q3 with 7 seats.
The interior could draw cues from the 2016 Audi A4 and Tiguan, while the Virtual Cockpit display, automatic parking, semi-autonomous drive system could be optional extras. The trunk volume will reportedly increase from 356 to 400 liters.
Unlike BMW, Audi will, reportedly, continue offering four cylinder engines in the Q3’s engine lineup, which could include a 1.4 TSI, 2.0 TSI, and the 2.0 TDI. Later in its life-cycle, Audi will introduce the Q3 e-tron, which could produce 220 hp in total output, says the report.
