Honda claims this is the most ambitious remake of the Civic in its 43-year history.
The 2016 Honda Civic sedan is the tenth generation of the nameplate and will begin arriving at the dealers in the coming weeks. Pictures of the upcoming sedan parked next to the ninth-gen Civic coupe from CivicX presents an idea of how the design has evolved.
The sedan spotted wears a white taffeta paint and is not seen with the optional LED headlights, but it does have LED DRLs and LED boomerang-shaped tail lights. The front fascia also gets a chunky bold grille while the sides receive turn indicators on the wheel arches, thinner A-pillar and a sloping roofline.
The 2016 Honda Civic is based on a new platform featuring ultra-high strength steel which Honda claims reduces the weight by 30.8 kg. Torsional rigidity has improved by 25 percent while aerodynamic efficiency has also increased by 12 percent.
Powering the Honda Civic will be two engines; a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that will be paired to either a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission, or a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four that will be come only with a CVT gearbox. Honda has claimed a fuel economy figure of 40 mpg (17 km/l) on the highway.
All Civic variants gain automatic climate control, electronic parking brake, auto up/down front power windows, adjustable thigh support for driver’s seat, walk-away auto door locks and a 7-inch touchscreen display with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
