A more rugged take on the just-announced compact crossover.
Apart from premiering the Suzuki Ignis compact crossover at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the company has also announced the Ignis Trail concept for the show, and released the first images.
Suzuki says that the Trail concept "expands upon the Ignis concept of urban and outdoor versatility by offering even greater rough-road ruggedness". The concept is fitted with large diameter wheels, roof rails, contrasting Orange inserts for the front fascia, foglight enclosures, shoulder line and alloy wheels. A contrast black roof is also observed on the concept.
Inside, the Ignis Trail concept gets a dual-tone black-and-white dashboard with Orange inserts for the center tunnel and door handles, whereas the seats are upholstered in black and white. A three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with a fresh design, a free-standing touchscreen center display, automatic climate control, and an automatic transmission are seen as well.
According to reports, the Ignis will be powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine with the SHVS mild-hybrid technology, paired to a CVT. Offering a standard front-wheel drive layout, Suzuki will also provide an optional 4WD system on the Ignis.
According to reports, the 1.0-liter turbocharged Boosterjet engine could also be part of the lineup.
