The new Toyota Hilux pickup truck will be launched in Brazil by the end of this year. The pickup has already gathered positive reviews even before launch as it has scored a full five stars in adult, and four stars in child occupant protection tests done by Latin NCAP. The model tested was the double-cab variant that was manufactured in Thailand, making it the first pickup truck to be tested by Latin NCAP. The new Hilux comes with three standard airbags (dual front airbag and driver knee airbag) and seatbelts for the front seat occupants.
NCAP also tested the performance of the Hilux in a side impact test and found it to be satisfactory owing to the car’s robust body structure. The pickup also features 4-channel ABS and seatbelt reminders for the front passengers adding to its safety rating.
Coming to child occupant safety, the car has received four stars due to the inclusion of an ISOFIX system for child seats.
Alejandro Furas, Latin NCAP Secretary General said: “The encouraging result of the first pick up tested in Latin NCAP achieving five stars for adult and four stars child occupant protection is good news and very relevant for our region."
