Prices have been lowered and waiting periods are set to reduce.
Mercedes-Benz India commenced local production of the CLA sedan at its Chakan plant today. This move will make the CLA a better value for money proposition and also lower the waiting period for the entry-level sedan, the company said in a statement.
Both the petrol and diesel variants have started local production simultaneously, making India the first market outside Europe to produce the CLA. The sedan now becomes the seventh Mercedes-Benz product to be locally produced in the country.
The CLA is offered in India with a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel. The 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol unit produces 181 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque while the 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit churns out figures of 135 bhp and 300 Nm.
Apart from the CLA, the GLA Petrol variant has also started local production and can now be had for INR 33.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The prices CLA have been revised and they are as follows (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi):
- Mercedes CLA 200 CDI Style – INR 30.70 lakh
- Mercedes CLA 200 Sport Petrol – INR 32.90 lakh
- Mercedes CLA 200 Sport Diesel – INR 33.90 lakh
