Mahindra has also confirmed a new mHawk 80 diesel engine for the compact SUV, which is expected to be a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine developing 80 bhp and 230 Nm of torque, paired to 5-speed manual and automated manual transmissions. At the time of the launch, the TUV300 will be a 2WD (rear-wheel drive) model only, though Mahindra confirmed a 4WD drivetrain is possible on this platform.

Speaking of the platform, the TUV300 rides on a hydroformed ladder-frame chassis, which is reported to be a shortened version of the new Scorpio's platform. Ducking under the 4 meter length, the TUV300 will sport a 5+2 seating layout, with side-facing seats at the rear.
