Expected to cost a shade more than the City.

The Dongfeng-Honda joint venture will launch the Honda Greiz (based on the Honda City) in the Chinese market on November 7. The Greiz will be sold alongside the regular Honda City, which is manufactured and marketed by Guangzhou Honda, another joint venture partner in China.

The Honda Greiz will be powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine.

The Greiz adopts styling cues seen on the Honda Spirior. Designers have given it new light clusters, a new grille, new bumpers and a redesigned bootlid to further distinguish it from the China-spec City, which looks identical to the model sold globally.

Inside though, there aren't any visible changes as the Greiz borrows its dashboard design and components from the City. The 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, an engine starter button, a touch panel for the automatic climate control, a touchscreen entertainment system, HDMI and USB ports, and an automatic transmission are observed.

The Greiz's teaser website confirms that it will be powered by the 1.5-liter EarthDreams i-VTEC petrol engine matched to a CVT, with paddle shifters being available as an option. According to a report, this engine will produce 131 hp on the sedan.
