FCA India (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) has sent out a statement confirming the start of bookings for the Fiat Abarth Punto. The statement further reads that the Abarth Punto will launch "in a month’s time", and will be available across 100+ dealerships pan India. The booking amount is INR 50,000.
FCA refers to the car as the "Made in India" Abarth, confirming that production of the Abarth Punto will take place alongside the Punto Evo at the Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra. Some engine components could be imported however keeping in mind the 1.4-liter T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine on the Abarth Punto makes 145 bhp and 211 Nm of torque.
Paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the Abarth Punto accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.53 seconds, making it the quickest non-luxury hatchback in the country. In a bid to improve its handling, engineers have also reduced the ride height of the Abarth Punto by 30 mm.

On the outside, the Abarth Punto will have its Fiat badges replaced with the Abarth Scorpion, 16-inch Scorpion alloy wheels, Abarth-branded decals and contrast wing mirror caps. Inside, the hot-hatch gets aluminium pedals, contrast stitching, and other features seen on the Punto Evo like automatic AC, steering mounted controls, Bluetooth and a 2-DIN music system.
