China is likely to get the 1.6-liter GDi engine.
Ahead of its launch in China next year, the 2016 Hyundai Elantra was caught on test by Auto.Ifeng.
Hyundai unveiled the 2016 Elantra (2016 Hyundai Avante) in South Korea this month with deliveries expected to start next month. The company plans on selling 50,000 units in Korea this year, 110,000 units next year, and 590,000 units overseas next year.
The new Elantra's body features 53 percent of Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), and its design makes it the most aerodynamic car in its class, according to Hyundai, with a Cd of 0.27. Engineers have also taken more efforts to improve the NVH levels of the sedan, by redesigning components like the wiper blades, wheel wells and door seals.
Inside, the 2016 Elantra features a new dashboard design which is tilted 6.9 degrees towards the driver. Hyundai has generously equipped the cabin with a Harman sound system, memory function for the seat adjustment, a smart trunklid, high-beam assist, autonomous emergency braking, and blind spot detection.

Hyundai announced a 1.6-liter GDi, a 2.0-liter MPi and a 1.6-liter VGT CRDi, with the diesel engine getting access to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. A 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic are available with the other engines.
The 2016 Elantra is expected to launch in India towards end-2016 or early-2017.
