Likely to be called the 'Ford Ka' in Europe.
Ford India commenced exports of the new Figo hatchback prior to its launch in India this week. Speaking to Indian Autos Blog at the national launch of the new Figo, Mr. Nigel Harris, president and managing director of Ford India said that the first units for Mexico, Middle East and Africa were exported 10-12 days prior to the Indian launch.
When asked if the new Figo will be exported to European markets, he said -
That's reasonable [to expect]. We're going to be exporting to 50 markets. We haven't announced all those markets yet. In some of those markets, they don't even know they're getting it yet.
Ford India exports the EcoSport, which is made at its Chennai plant, to Europe. The new Figo is made at the Sanand plant in Gujarat.
Spyshots have shown the new Figo test in European roads, and many reports claim a launch in 2016. The Geneva Motor Show, which takes place in the first week of March, could be an ideal platform to introduce the Euro-spec Figo, which could be called the 'Ford Ka' in Europe.
