Will be based on the Toyota C-HR concept.

Toyota revealed the Toyota C-HR concept last year at the Paris Motor Show, a crossover concept that was a radical departure from current Toyota models.

The compact SUV will be positioned below the Toyota RAV4.

According to a report on Autocar UK, the Japanese auto major is going to reveal a crossover based on the concept to rival the best-selling Nissan Qashqai. The upcoming small SUV will likely be seen as early as next year’s Geneva Motor Show, which is scheduled to take place in March, adds the report.

Despite being smaller than the Qashqai, Autocar understands that it would have the same interior space.

The C-HR is a sensational concept boasting of a futuristic shape interspersed with aggressive, muscular lines. The exterior showed sleek headlights, big wheels, very muscular wheel arches, prominent haunches, swooping roofline, floating tail light design and extremely short overhangs.

Toyota New Global Architecture
The production C-HR will likely be based on the Toyota New Global Architecture.

The new model will likely be based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) that is scalable to a large extent and can be used as a platform for all vehicle sizes having front-, rear- and even all-wheel drivetrains. This platform is central to the company’s global plans and is expected to be the basis for almost half of all the cars produced by the manufacturer by 2020.

Once in the market, the C-HR is expected to take on the might of the Nissan Qashqai and the VW Tiguan.
