Will be slotted below the RAV4 in Toyota’s lineup.
Toyota’s entry-level crossover which is likely to hit markets in 2016, has been spotted testing in Spain.
This crossover is based on the Toyota C-HR concept that was showcased last year at the Paris Motor Show. The test mule spotted here is a four-door and does not resemble the twin-door, raised concept that previewed it.
Apart from that there are plenty of design cues that have been carried over like, the slender, swept-back headlights and the sloping windscreen. Moving to the sides there is the familiar bulging wheel arches, swooping roofline, blade-style alloy wheel design and the raised beltline at the rear windows. The rear is seen under heavy cladding but the distinct boomerang-shaped LED taillights from the concept are clearly visible.
The compact crossover is reported to be based on Toyota’s new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. Specifications are still scarce but the website states that four-cylinder engines paired to CVT transmission is a possibility. Front-wheel drive is rumoured to come as standard with all-wheel drive offered as optional.
The new model would be placed below the Toyota RAV4, and the crossover likely to debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
