Expected in India next year.
The Honda BR-V compact SUV concept which will be unveiled at the GIIAS 2015 tomorrow, has leaked out early. A picture posted on Indonesian website AutonetMagz reveals its front-end.
The BR-V gets a fascia featuring the 'XCITING H DESIGN!!!' with large chrome blades flanked by projector headlamps, chrome-encircled foglamps, a wide airdam, high ground clearance, side body cladding, chrome door handles and silver roof rails. It is interesting to note that the kink on the rear door is similar to the Mobilio hinting that door frames could be common.
The BR-V will be powered by the same 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine used on the Jazz and Mobilio, and as per new reports, some markets would get the higher specification 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine. On the HR-V, the 1.8L puts out 139 PS at 6,500 rpm and 169 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm, and is paired to a CVT. This engine would address the customers wanting more power from the BR-V when all seven seats are occupied.
For a market like India with a unique fuel preference, Honda would have to rely on the service of the Earth Dreams 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine that develops 100 PS and 200 Nm on the Amaze and City to challenge the leaders.
AutonetMagz further reports that Electronic Stability Control (ESC) would be offered on the highest variant. Past reports have said that the car would not share the Amaze's dashboard.
Honda Cars India has hinted very strongly that the BR-V is its next new mass-market product.
