Although VW still hasn’t unveiled a mid-cycle refresh for the current VW Golf Mk VII, reports on the next generation VW Golf Mk VIII are rife with plenty of new details and renderings. Autobild has posted new renders of the 2019 VW Golf, giving an idea as to what we can expect.
As with every generation, the VW Golf will certainly grow in size for better interior space. It will feature VW’s latest design philosophy that is an evolutionary step forward for the Golf’s design. Inside, the design could borrow equipment ideas from the VW Golf R Touch concept, which includes a large toucshscreen infotainment display, touch-enabled HVAC controls and a Virtual Cockpit instrument display.
It will be based on a newer version of the MQB platform, and feature lightweight materials like aluminum and plastic in its body construction.
As for engines under the hood, the standard VW Golf could offer a diverse range of power trains, which includes the latest 1.0 TSI petrol motor compatible with the MQB platform. A plug-in hybrid (like the Golf GTE) and EV variants could also join other rumored models like a 300 hp VW Golf GTI and a range-topping 400 hp Golf RS.
