Could debut a new range of inline 6 cylinder turbo engines.

Mercedes-Benz's next big-ticket product, the 2016 Mercedes E Class (W213), will reportedly debut at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS 2016), and arrive in showrooms in the middle of 2016.

The render incorporates the confirmed headlamp and taillamp designs, as well borrowing cues from its brothers: the S Class and C Class

To give a better look at the expected styling, Autobild has rendered the next generation Mercedes E Class; incorporating the confirmed headlamp and taillamp designs, as well as borrowing cues from its brothers: the S Class and C Class. As rendered, the 2016 Mercedes E Class loses the sharp and angular design of the current model for a rounded approach with less sculpted features.

Inside, spyshots have indicated that the W213 E-Class may adopt a wide COMAND infotainment display integrated into the dashboard (akin to the S-Class), rather than a freestanding display seen in the latest lineup of Mercs. Expect lower button count, better interior trim and leather upholstery, more interior space and a top-spec Burmester audio system.

The new E Class will debut Mercedes' Remote Parking Pilot and a “Car-to-X” communication system.

The new E Class will debut Mercedes' Remote Parking Pilot, which enables the car to self-park in a given area, and a “Car-to-X” communication system, as well as features borrowed from S Class such as the Active Brake Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, PRE-SAFE Plus, beltbag (airbag in the belt), and Attention Assist.

Lower variants of the 2016 Mercedes E-Class will be offered with a new generation of four-cylinder diesel engines, (codenamed OM654) alongside existing four-cylinder petrol engines. Reports also suggest that higher variants will pack an all new range of inline 6 cylinder turbo engines that will replace the current model’s V6 engines.
